There are Irish on this list that do go into Belfast and would do a look up. It may take awhile but it is worth the rouble. M

It had a pif extension.--- Hope it hasn't caused too many of you trouble. Bye for now Jill Mance. North Queensland

    1. Booklet about Kilraughts Covenanter Church
    2. A booklet called "Two Hundred Years of Witness: The Story of Kilraughts Covenanting Church" by Rev. Professor A. Loughridge is on sale through an internet bookseller. The book largely has to do with the ministers who have served since the 1780s, but the seller told me there is a mention at the end listing prominent families: CHRISTIE, GUTHRIE, HANNA, HENRY, KENNEDY, GARRYDUFF, KNOX, LOUGHRIDGE, PINKERTON, ROBINSON, SIMPSON, STEVENSON AND THOMPSON. PLEASE NOTE - THERE IS NO INDEX IN THE BOOKLET AND THE SELLER IS NOT WILLING TO DO EXTENSIVE LOOKUPS. Here's the link: http://dogbert.abebooks.com/abe/BookDetails?bi=69203140 If the direct link won't work, go into the main ABE homepage (http://www.abebooks.com/) and plug in the book title under "search" on the left. BTW - ABE is a wonderful resource for finding books on Antrim genealogy and history (and anything else for that matter!!) I've found many intriguing titles by plugging in Antrim, Ulster, Northern Ireland or even Townland and family names into their keyword search. Happy hunting!! Karen Booth

    3. Dear Karen: Thank you for the link for the parish and townland map. It does help to understand the areas. But I have a question maybe you or someone else can answer. My ancestor Arthur Anderson and two of his daughters may have been born in Larkhill, Muckamore, Antrim. I can't find Larkhill. Is Muckamore the Grange of Muckamore? One of the records I have says that the information about the birth of Arthur's daughters came from Muckamore Parish Records. Is Larkhill no longer there? Name change? Any help anyone can give me would really be appreciated, I stuck! Janet

    2. Jim Keel
    3. Hi, Sue I am very interested in what you may have on the Wilson's from Antrim. My great grandmother was Nancy Ann Wilson, daughter of Hugh John Wilson and Mary Anne Robinson. Nancy Ann Wilson married John Smyth of Antrim, and one of their daughter's married my grandfather, James Lyons Harbison, also of Antrim. They moved to the USA and were married here in 1922 in Philadelphia. Nancy Ann Wilson had 5 other siblings - Samuel, d. 3-8-1934; Sarah Liza who married William Crabb; Maria, married Joseph Cameron; Robert James, b. 3/31/1860, who married Elizabeth Mitchell Michael; and John Wilson, who married a miss Hayes. I have a lot more names that are more recent, the largest off-shoot of which is the Samuel who married Elizabeth Simpson, d. 12-3-1939. I have nothing at all prior to Hugh John Wilson and Mary Anne Robinson. Let me know if any of this rings a bell. Would love to exchange info if it does. Thanks. -- James C. In the latter part of that period the directories would almost certainly pick him up, and even in the earlier days landlords were well recorded. Could be listed under innkeepers, taverns, ale-house, beer-house or licensed premises depending on publication. As far as I can tell the following directories were published, see below, copied from previous message 12.7.2001. Sorry, I know of nothing more specific available on any website. Chris Morgan ______________________________________________________________ There is a comprehensive list of directories available for Belfast and they are available for public view at several major locations, but unfortunately not all are available at each. The best collection of 19th Century material may be at the Linen Hall Library in Belfast. 20th Century directories are easily viewed at the Central Library in Belfast, and PRONI also have a good selection. The National Library in Dublin has many, and the British Library in London, too. The British Library and Linen Hall Library have searchable website catalogues to establish what they may have. Additionally, for all those around the globe, the LDS has a good selection of microfilm copies of 19th Century directories. These can be ordered for viewing at their local FHCs. The actual directories available can be found from their searchable catalogue on their website. The Ulster Historical Foundation publishes a reprinted version of the 1807 and 1808 Joseph Smyth's Belfast Directories. A reprinted Martin's 1841-2 Directory can still be found in some places, published by the Mid-Antrim Historical Group in 1992. From the former publication I quote very briefly the dates for which directories were published - by various publishers, 1805 1806 1807 1808 1809 1819 (2) 1820-21 1824 1831-2 1835-6 1839 1840-1 1841-2 1842-3 1843-4 (2) 1846 (2) 1850 1852 (2) 1854 1856 (2) 1858 1860-1 1861-2 1863-4 1865-6 (2) 1868 1870 (2) 1877 1878 1880 1881 1884 1887 1890 1892 1893 1894 (2) 1895 1896 1897 1898 1899 (2) 1900 (2)

    3. Billy parish is in the area of Bushmills. It encompasses many townlands. I have the following discripton from Oct. of 2000. The parish of Bily is in North West County Antrim. OS Memoirs give its locatlity and extent as 11 miles east north east of Coloraine, on the ease side of the River Bush, in the baronies of Cary and Lower Dunluce, the north and south-east quarter portion being in Cary and the centre half being in Cunluce and county of Antrim, and its north-west corner being the most, or northweserly portion of the barony of Cary, provice of Ulster. It is a vicarage, and in the diocese of Connor. It is bounded on the north by the Atlantic Ocean and on the north-east by the parish of Ballintoy; and the south-east by the parish or grange of Drumtallagh; on the south and south-west by the parish of Derrykeighan and on the north-west by the parish of Dunluce. It extends from north to south about 13 Britich miles and from east to west about 4 or 5 miles. The parish contains 17,330 British statute acres. It is divided into 65 townlands, including a glebe of 39 British statute acres, which, with a glebe house on it, is situated in the centre close to the village of Billy. We were there last summer. In the Billy church graveyard, it was covered by straw and in very bad shape, stones knocked over, etc. Jo Glass
