    1. CUPPLES name
    2. Coral Woon
    3. Thought I'd try, once again, for any information regarding this name. The name CUPPLES is from Northern Ireland and Scotland and was first recorded on the IGI in 1650. Most emigrations were to Canada and the States and from worldwide; New Zealand (mine) and Australia. It's an Anglicised Huguenot name and the original could have been Cappel, Souple, Supple, Cuppis, Cuppif or any variations. Coral CUPPLES Woon

    1. Lord Champness?
    2. Ted Marr
    3. There is a story in our family that one of our earliest known Antrim ancestors James Young held the title Lord Champness. I am told that this was an honorary title which formed part of the traditions of Northern Ireland and was probably related somehow to Belfast. It was not, I gather, a hereditary title like a peerage, but some sort of honorary title awarded from time to time to an individual. Doese anyone know what it could mean, and where I might find a list of the incumbents? Ted Marr 28 October 2001

    3. Hi List, I am interested in any info on Sephton (Sefton). George Sefton and his brother Edward Sefton were transported to Australia for the crime of Larceny in the 1830's. I believe both boys were born in Co Antrim in the early 1800's. However their parents William Sephton and Isabella Grey (or Grier) were from Liverpool area and married in Liverpool in 1800. Does anybody know these names or have any info to offer regards Jen

    1. DOHERTY, CONSTANTINE
    2. Glen & Sandra Radford
    3. Hi, My name is Sandra Radford & I live in Alberta, Canada. I have only been researching my ggrandparents for a short time now, I have took over for a cousin who started about 15 years ago.A short time ago I finally tracked where they were married and received a copy of the register. All this time we had thought our grandmothers fathers name was John, according to the register her father is listed as Constantine Doherty/Doughtery.John may have been a brother we think now.So now Iam on the search for Constantine and coming up pretty empty handed. I have no idea where in Ireland they lived. Only clue I have to try and follow is from a website that gave me this. Index to Griffith`s Valuation Of Ireland 1848-1864. Doherty, Constantine, Townparks Pg. 112, Ballymoney Parish, County Antrim. Index Directory ?????1823-1837 Doherty, Constantine, Ballymaclose. Doherty, Constantine, Townhead, Antrim County, Northern, Ireland. I have not been able to place his name with anything else. The only information I have with my notes are, My ggrandmother was Mary Doughtery\Doherty born in Ireland abt 1844. She was 19 when she married my ggrandfather Nicholas Rodgers/Rogers on 25 Dec 1963 here in Canada. The marriage register has her parents listed as Constantine & Ellen, we believe her mothers surname was Grey/Gray.We believe she had a sister Eliza & brother John. If anyone has the above resources on the Index above, to see if there is more information or any other resources that could help me with this would be appreciated. Any advice on what direction to take with this would also be a great help. best regards, Sandra Canada

    1. Samuel McDonald born Co. Antrim 1872
    2. Hi, I'm seeking any information about Samuel McDonald who was born in Antrim on the 5th March 1872. Sam emigrated to the US in 1895 and lived in Philadelphia where he married Isabella Agnes Ahern in 1908. Isabella was from Cobh Co. Cork, a younger sister to my grandfather Thomas Ahern, she was born in 1865. As far as I know they did not have any children. They returned to live in Cobh after many years but I don't know if that is where they are buried. The only other information I have is that Sam was protestant and Isabella catholic. The Ellis Island website shows Sam returning to the US in 1908, he was a ship's steward, his nearest relative is listed as his brother George McDonald living at what looks like 27 Ardmolin Ave Belfast. Thank you, Colman Ahern, Berkeley.
