    2. Unless Dublin GRO has very recently changed their own rules on payment, whoever told you that a personal check made out in US dollars is unacceptable, is completely wrong. I've been sending GRO personal checks since 1998, the most recent a few weeks ago, they have always accepted them. It's certainly the easiest way of doing business! Colman Ahern, Berkeley.

    2. I have an ancestor named Patrick Hoy (b. 17 Feb 1787) in Antrim. He married Elizabeth Coan, whose parents were Andrew Coan and Mary Snoddy. Mary Snoddy's parents were John Snoddy and Jane Cowan, who came over from Antrim with Rev. Martin in 1773 and landed in Charleston, SC. The parents of the Patrick Hoy mentioned above were John Hoy (b. 1740, Raloo Parish, Antrim) and Ann Crawford. I don't know much about the Crawford line, but that is my connection to them. I don't know who the parents of Ann Crawford were. Maybe there is a connection to your Crawfords. Win Featherston *** Previous message below *** What is your Crawford connection? My James Crawford and wife Martha Haire were one of Rev Martin's passengers too. They came in on the Lord Donluce and lived in York, County. 1. Snoddy surname
    2. Hello Carol and all, I am descended from John and Jane Cowen Snoddy through their daughter Mary Snoddy (b. abt 1756), who married Andrew Coan. They are all buried at the cemetery of Nazareth Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg Co South Carolina. John and Jane were from Antrim, and came to the Americas on the ship "James and Mary", which had been chartered by Rev. William Martin. Do you recognize any of these folks? I am wondering if we might have a connection here. Related surnames are Hoy, Crawford, Coan/Cowen, and Snoddy. Thanks, Win *** previous message below *** After being a quiet observer on the mailing list, I've decided to "jump in". So, I'm hoping that someone may have come across the SNODDY family name and have some information to share. I have been able to trace my ancestor Samuel Snoddy (b: 1727) to Larne, specifically the Ballysnod, Browndodd and Ballyrickard areas. Samuel left Larne in 1748 with his new wife, Elizabeth Sloan and came to Pennsylvania and then traveled on into North Carolina and the family then scattered to Tennessee, Alabama and Arkansas. I was blessed to be able to visit Northern Ireland last year and stayed in Raymond Snoddy's cottage on the Antrim Highway. Leonard Sluman and his lovely wife, Lily, chauffered us around the lands of my ancestors. Leonard has become the Snoddy line expert in NI, but we have not been able to prove who "my" Samuel's parents were. We feel that one of the Snoddy's buried at St. Cedma's is my ancestor's parent, but..... So, would appreciate any information any of you may have come across in your research. Thank you so much. -- Carol Snoddy Byler Huntsville, AL Webpage: http://home.HiWAAY.net/~csbyler/Genealogy/Snoddy/Snoddy.html

    3. Speaking of McCambridge I am looking for info on - Hugh McCAMBRIDGE who married Mary O'HAGAN circa 1838 in Ireland and had ?? children including Charles, Jane born circa 1850 and Rose. There could be other children though. Hugh died in the 1870's, my elderly aunt advised in a rockfall whilst building the railway at Ballymena. Hugh's daughter Rose emigrated to Stockton NSW Australia and married a ship's captain, a Bernard Joseph Heydon pre 1870. Has anyone come across any of these names in your research? 1. birth lookup request
    2. Jackie Serna
    3. Hello all. I am asking for a very large favour. I need to find any births during the years 1879-1889 for the surname PAGE in Belfast or Whiteabbey. If anyone is going to an an LDS or anywhere that has birth indexes for this time interval could they please take this surname along and see if there are any listed at all. I realize this may be an impossible favour to ask but I will try anyways. I do have 1 birth for a John (Whiteabbey) in Dec quarter 1883. Parents (Joseph and Margaret) married in 1878 (Carrickfergus) so hoping there were other children as I have hit a brick wall with John. Thank you Jackie

    3. Thanks to a very kind man I now have a new line to search. Anne SHAW from Belfast or surrounding area, born about 1825, likely Church of Ireland. Sorry, but that is all I have, other than she married my g-g-grandpa John McCORMICK and had at least two children, John (1847) and Edward (1849), both in Belfast (St. Anne's). Any details regarding the Shaw name in Belfast or any other background information greatly appreciated. Andy Airriess
