The important variable here is the religion of Hugh, as the marriage date you mention is prior to civil Registration (begun in 1864). You will need to delve into Church records. Eull Dunlop, 69 Galgorm Road, Ballymena, BT42 1AA is a local historian who has published photographic accounts of Ballymena. www.amazon.co.uk lists 37 pamphlets by this and associated authors. Hi, I just recently discovered that my ancestors John Rankin and Nancy McPake were born in Belfast, Ireland - doing a quick search of Griffiths it shows a lot of Rankins in Dock ?? in Shankill - is this Shankill somewhat close to Belfast?? Also on the death certificate of one of the daughters who was born in Ireland (she was born in 1841) - it listed place of birth as "Wood Street, Woods" - has anyone ever heard of this - I am very new to this and any light that you could shed upon this would be very appreciated!! Thanks - Jim Rankin.
Hi to all on the list You might remember I have an ancestor who originates from Co Antrim - Hugh McCambridge. He was born abt 1815. Hugh married a Mary O'HAGAN born bet. 1812-1813, definitely in Ballymena, Co Antrim. I have now obtained Mary's Death Certificate and counting back Hugh McCambridge married Mary O'Hagan bet. 1839 - 1840 in Ballymena Ireland!!!! Hugh was a Railway Ganger who was emtombed in a rock fall whilst building the railway at Ballymena and appears to have spent his whole adult life living in Co Antrim, dying in a rockfall between 1883 and 1886. Can anyone help track down my Hugh or Mary???. Kind regards CHERYLANNE
William Kirk married Mary Anderson sometime between 1830-1850 in or near Belfast, Ireland. They may have been Prssbyterians. Their children were Andrew Anderson, Jane (married a Miller),Eliza, Mary Ann, Thomas, John, William and one other unknown brother(all Kirk's of course). I am interested in any information about anyone in this family, their descendants or ancestors. Thank you.
If anyone on this mail list is searching the 1901 County Antrim Census in Grange Parish, could you please check to see if my grandmother, Sarah Speirs/Speers, is shown at age 19 yrs. old? She may have been living with a Duff family member or working as a housekeeper. Or.... can you direct me to someone who knows the Enumeration District number for this parish in 1901? Thanks. Sarah emigrated from Busby, Scotland to Boston, Massachusetts in June 1901. From 1901 until her death in Boston in 1920, I have a great deal of information. I also have her birth record; she was born in Aghavary, Co. Antrim, No.Ireland, 11 June 1881. Her parents were William and Elizabeth (Duff) Speers/Speirs. Thank you for your help. I'm researching the Haire/Hair/Hare family of Antrim. James Haire and wife Mary immigrated to South Carolina abt 1788. Left behind in Antrim was his mother, Mary and siblings, John, Arthur, Jane, William, Alexander, Martha. I think James father was John Haire. Can anyone tell me how to find a will in Antrim in that time frame? I believe they were in Ballynacraigy, in Drummaul. Linda Atkins

> > I sent out the same info earlier. I also showed the film number, asked if some kind soul could supply the dates available (much PRONI stuff is limited as to the periods filmed - and legibility), and added a note of my own interest just in case anyone was looking. This was done in total unawareness of your post, which was not read here until some 10 minutes after mine had been sent. Unfortunately not all servers send and receive everything immediately, and we aren't all on- line 24 hours a day. Sorry if you may have taken this as being in any way an implied criticism of your own submission, which it certainly wasn't. Chris

I too may have an interest in this church for a possible birth of a Mary Jane Gray about 1828. She could also have married there about 1846 to a Robert Hegan (Hagan). You will find Antrim (1st) (Millrow), Antrim, MIC/1P/3 (the film number) Chris Morgan Sheffield

At PRONI I found (Millrow) under Antrim (1st) Presbyterian Church. Lee Ramsey (See below) http://proni.nics.gov.uk/records/private/presindx.htm#a Antrim (1st) (Millrow) Antrim 3 :
"Karen Chessell" at [email protected] wrote: > Millrow Presbyterian Church - exactly where it was/is and when its records...? In checking the following site I did not see "Millrow." What congregations are listed can be found in the left inset idex by county. Return to the index at the bottom of the list to check each county. http://www.presbyterianireland.org/congregations/index.html I also tried Millrow for a possible match to a townland at: http://www.seanruad.com/ but nothing there. Karen -- what is your reference to "Millrow?" --- I also checked Hanna (The Scotch-Irish); Falley (Irish and Scotch-Irish Ancestral Resesarch); and Lewis (Topographical Dictionary of Ireland) with no results. Knew a McMaster family who were living in Landeberg, PA, back in the early 1950's. They had a son named William who graduated from the University of Delaware in 1953. He was an engineering major. The big problem I've found with Dublin is the time it all takes. They may charge more but at least with Ulster Certificates from GRONI they usually come through in a matter of weeks rather than months. Just recently I've had responses within 7 days. And they can be ordered online with VISA or MasterCard's. Go to http://www.groni.gov.uk/ and follow the links. Of course if you don't have accurate dates and addresses to identify the targets they still have to refer to Dublin - and that takes......................months! Chris Morgan Sheffield
IIRC, Dublin accept Visa/Mastercard for payments (GRONI certainly do). Alternatively, check out http://www.foreignmoney.com/ They charge $5 for an international cheque, err, sorry, check. Stephen. PS. You may be able to get the death cert from GRONI, but don't tell anyone I said this..... ******************************************** Stephen Barnes www.blackthorndrive.co.uk ******************************************** ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 08, 2002 7:39 PM Subject: Re: Obtaining Death Certificates > > > Hi: Can anyone tell me how to pay for copies of death > certificates? Hi: Can anyone tell me how to pay for copies of death certificates? The deaths occurred in County Antrim in 1914 and I know I must apply to Dublin. However, the problem is I can't get American Dollars changed into Irish money. I do not want to send currency and a check on an American Bank is unacceptable. Help! Marion.
