    2. Cameron
    3. Hello, I have been told that an ancestor, born about 1830, was the daughter of Mr. HENRY of Glenburn, County Armagh. I have searched and searched, but cannot find a place called 'Glenburn' anywhere in Northern Ireland. Could someone point me in the right direction, please? Best wishes Sybil Cameron

I am looking for a marriage of John Kennedy and Matilda Strange possibly round about 1920. Does anyone have any information on these names in these areas. 3. Hello for the first time, I am having a devil of a time trying to find the 1800's home of my THOMPSON ancestors, who apparently had strong ties to the linen manufacturing business. The THOMPSON family address was given to me as "Walton, Fortwilliam Park, Belfast, Northern Ireland." At the top center of http://www.wesleyjohnston.com/users/ireland/maps/towns/belfast.gif, I can see Fortwilliam, but in other Internet searches, several businesses have an address of "[number] Fortwilliam Park, Belfast" which leads me to believe that it is also a road. Even more confusing is that Fortwilliam Park is often followed by Tobermore, and not Belfast. Are there two Fortwilliam Parks? I sure would appreciate an explanation or clarification on this. Thanks, Kim

    2. Wisconsin Homecare Organization
    3. Searching for information on James McKinstry or his son William. William (born 6 Oct. 1722; died 12 Nov 1795) is said to have been a farmer in Carrickfergus who emigrated to Sturbridge, Mass., USA about 1740. Family lore has it that the McKinstry clan came to Ireland from Scotland about 1650, but I have no evidence to confirm this. Also seeking information on the family of Christopher McMichael (born in Antrim about 1756) who emigrated to Pennsylvania, USA, just prior to the American Revolutionary War. This family, too, is said to have come to Ireland from Scotland, but I have no evidence of this either. --Russell King

    1. CASTLES, CASSELS, CASSELLS of Drumbeg
    2. Has anyone come across these surnames in your research: Castles, Cassels and/or Cassells? I also have Harper, Caulfield, Caufield, Cosby, Bear, Watson, Fullerton, Ellis, Dunn, Johnston, and Beggs. This is what I know... There were five brothers and sisters - Mary, James, John, Thomas and Lorenzo Castles. Mary was b. 1770, married Henry Caulfield, and d. 1840 in Boligee, AL. CHildren: John, Thomas, Sarah, Henry, Letitia, Isabella, Elizabeth, Mary, Susan and William. James was b. ca. 1775, died on a French ship in 1798, had a daughter, Alice who married James Moreland. Alice moved to Newark, NJ John b. ca. 1778, nothing more is known about him Thomas b. ca. 1782, died ca. 1835 in Choctaw Bluff, AL. Married Mary Greenlee of Ireland. Children: Sarah, Mary, Eliza and Letitia. Lorenzo, b. ca. 1784, died ca. 1868 in Belfast, Ireland. Married Nancy Cosby. Children: Letitia, John, Lorenzo, Mary, William M., Eliza, Ann Jane, Isabella and Thomas. I believe their parents were John and Letitia because of the naming patterns in their children. Thomas, son of Lorenzo and Nancy, was my ggg grandfather. He and his wife Eliza Harper settled in Newark, NJ. Eliza was a daughter of William and Jane Harper. I believe she had a sister, Agnes, who married Alexander Arbuthnot. This family first lived in Drumbeg then lived in Belfast. Does anyone have access to the Drumbeg graveyard records? There was also a Thomas Castles b. 1849 who lived in Newark (not my Thomas, entirely different one). This Thomas had a cousin named Lorenzo who was b. 1870. Lorenzo came to America in 1909. According to the ship records, he left behind a sister "McDengan" at 17 Jocelyn St., Belfast and was born in Drumbeg. I am not certain how this family fits in but there is no doubt that they were somehow related, possibly descendants of Lorenzo, father of my Thomas. Thanks for any help! Regards, Jason Gervase Rochester NY

    1. Re: Mary Galt
    2. Thank you for the information. I found a Samuel Gault in the 1900 US census, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born in Ireland, abt. 1857, immigrated to the US in 1882 with his wife Jane. Three sons enumerated in the 1900 census were William, Samuel, jr. and Joseph, all born in Pennsylvania. Also found a Thomas Gault who immigrated to the US in 1887, (he was born in Ireland in 1871) also to Phliadelphia, His wife, Mary, immigrated in 1880 (she was was born May 1863 in Ireland). Their six children were all born in Pennsylvania, James, John, Thomas, Samuel, Mary J. and Thomas J. I could have picked up the two Thomas in error from the census, or the census taker could have made the mistake. I don't know if the above fits into your research. I haven't quite established a link to the Philadelphia Gaults. I just know that Rosetta Galt/Gault's husband John McSheffery made a visit to a brother of Rosetta' s in Philadelphia in abt. 1900 to ask for help in bringing his family over from Belfast. Lois W.

    2. This is all I know about Mary Galt: Her maternal grand parents were Martha Davis + ? Smith. I don't know her parents' names -- will look in LDS to see if they might be there. Her siblings were: Jeremiah, John, Martha, Samuel + a sister who married a Frew. Samuel married a Holden and had a son John Galt. John was a clergyman from Colerain & he and Samuel both fought in the Rising of 1798. Later they both made it to America. Samuel went to Canada and later died in the War of 1812. 2. Don't want to appear redundant, but the mention of Mary Galt is the best "fringe" lead I have come across in eons. You mentioned you did not know Mary's father's name, what was her mother's name? If you have anything, regardless of how trivial, I would appreciate that trivia on the Galts, where they came from, etc.,etc. Thank you so very much Lois

    2. I am interested in your message concerning Mary Galt. Would it at one time been spelled as Gort or Gault ?? And, please, who was Mary's father? Mother? You wrote of County Antrim, in or near Coleraine?? I don't mean to ask so many questions but I have a Rose/Rosetta Gault/Galt/Gort who married a John McSheffrey/ery from Coleraine (?). Her father was John Galt/Gort/Gault and her mother was Mary Ann McCourt. Have very little on John Galt , he was a born , circa 1835/40 and his occupation was groom. Any link here ??? Thanks Lois W.
