I was wondering if someone could suggest which census to order from the FHC for Hannover between the years 1800 and 1850. When I just looked on their web site, it appeared to be so many choices. My understanding is my family member listed Hannover, Germany on the US census. I'm not sure if this is enough information to start to look. Are their census's similiar to the federal census's done in the US? Thanks.
You need to determine the parish that your family is from. If you go to FamilySearch.org and search the IGI index using your family name you may find where they are concentrated in that area. To my knowledge there are no census records from this area. Keep searching for the parish name, check every census, some one may have mentioned the place they were born. Have you checked death records of the immigrant?
