Marla, You can find Steinhude and the lake nearby quite easily using Map24 for Germany (http://www.de.map24.com/). You can also see it using Google Earth, although the Sat image isn't the best. Steinhude is about 28km west-north-west of the city of Hannover. Steinhude is about 35km north-north-east of Rinteln I don't know much about the history of the place, but you can find a little information at http://www.neustadt-rbge.de/gym/steinhe.htm. Tr Google or another search engine and you can probably find more.
