He was born July 24,1836 in Brunswick. He came to the United States in either 1850 or 1852.(He lists both these dates on tow different census) I am assumming he came through the port of Baltimore. He owned a grocery store in Baltimore city. But he may also have relatives in St Louis Missouri. In his daughter Ida's obituary it says for St Louis Missouri papers to please copy. I would like to find out who his parents were and if he came to Baltimore by himself or with his parents or brothers or sisters? There is a family story that five brothers came to America and then split up and went their separate ways. But I have no evidence that this even happened. So if anyone can help me,I'd appreciate it. August was married twice. First to my GG grandmother Mary E. Brandau,then after he death in 1883,he married a Margaretha Ruppell. Thanks, Kristy
