Mark, The link you linked looks very informative. Thank you for providing it. http://app.staatsarchive.niedersachsen.de/findbuch/ Is there any way to use this and obtain a list of all emigrants from a particular town? I am specifically interested in Schwagstorf and Alfhausen. I can find these towns (kirchspiel) in the database ... but can't find my specific people ... possibly because of a spelling error. Thanks, Becky --- Mark Hayward <mdh1965@yahoo.com> wrote: > StAOs is likely the State Archives in Osnabrück > (Staatsarchiv Osnabrück). > > Here is a link to a page (in English) which > describes > how someone used the search feature for the > Staatsarchiv Osnabrück: > > http://www.mail-archive.com/hannover-l@genealogy.net/msg08663.html > > --- myquealer@gmail.com wrote: > > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to > > this mailing list. > > > > Surnames: Hinkebein > > Classification: Query > > > > Message Board URL: > > > > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZVC.2ACE/3975 > > > > Message Board Post: > > > > I am trying to track down my anccestors in > Germany. > > Meinrod Hinkebein was born in 1815 in Germany (the > > US census says Hanover).
