Documents and censuses in the USA for a MANYHOUSE family indicate Hanover, Germany as the birth place of Frederick [Fritz] W. MANYHOUSE who came to the US and was located in Missouri in the 1860 census as Fritz MIMICHOUSE, age 25 born Hanover. In the same household is Emeline MIMICHOUSE, 22y born Missouri. We know this to be his wife, Virginia Emeline KINNEMAN, they wed 1860 in Missouri. This couple had 5 children I've been able to trace across the US, but have found no living persons carrying this name. Spelling has been the problem in locating documents and living descendants. This name is exceedingly rare in the US although many different spellings abound. MANNEHOUSE, MINNIEHOUSE, MANNINGHOUSE, MANHOUSE, etc. Also, the alternative spelling HAUS is found. The most productive of the spellings is MANYHOUSE. I've begun a Rootsweb Message Board for that spelling. Where might I look to find references to this surname group & find out more about its history in the Hanover area ? My family links backward are KEHR > ISENBERG > MANYHOUSE.
