Surnames: BRUGGENSCHMIDT~ENNEKING~THEIS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZVC.2ACE/4109 Message Board Post: I WOULD LIKE TO CORRESPOND WITH ANY ONE WHO HAS ANY KNOWLEDGE, OR A DISTANT RELATIVE OF THE BRUGGENSCHMIDT; ENNEKING; &/or THEIS SURNAME. Looking for Heinrich "Henry" Brüggenschmidt: parents; siblings; ship; passenger-list & relatives. Heinrich was born was born 7 May 1825 in Damme, Germany son of Johan Bernard Enneking & Anna Maria Brüggenschmidt. They were married 19 Jan 1820 (1800/50 St. Victor Catholic Church) & the best I understand is: Johan Bernard then changed his surname Enneking to Brüggenschmidt taking Anna Maria’s maiden name. The Brüggenschmidts were originally from Westphalia / Ibbenbühren / Germany / Prussia? Naturalization states: ----“embarked at Rotterdam; and arrived at Baltimore in the United States on the Day of June , A.D. 1849----a native of Oldenburg and owes allegiance to the Grand Duke of Oldenburg"-----. Heinrich then settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, married Katherine Theis (6 Jan 1853 St. Paul’s Catholic Church) moved on to Campbell County, Covington, KY (1860/67 St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church) then finally to Perry County, IN (1868/1904 St. Mark’s Catholic Church). Heinrich’s 25 Feb 1904 obituary states: ----- CHe was born 6 May 1825 in Oldenburg, Province Prus! sia”-- ---Need help on locations stated in Heinrich naturalization and obituary which are conflicting & confusing. The surname Brüggenschmidt has become almost extinct in Germany, I have found only 2 living in Iserlohn which I have had contacts with but no success in my research. US Census: 1860 BOGANSMITH; 1870 BRINNSMUTH; 1880 BRUENSUNDT; 1900 BRUGGENSCHMIDT Any input or information would be greatly appreciated; Paul Bruggenschmidt Louisville, KY I can be reached directly by email: paul5510@bellsouth.net
