    2. HI Alex, The church in Ottersberg is relatively new (50 years maybe?). If your ancestors were there in the 1800s they would have been part of the church at Otterstedt, a few miles away. I have been to both the churches, and looked at records in the Otterstedt church. It is extremely short staffed, and as I recall the office was only open 1 or 2 afternoons a week. I don't know their policy as to whether or not they respond to genealogy requests. The records of Otterstedt have been microfilmed through 1852, and I looked at them at my local LDS library after ordering them from Salt Lake. Even if you have no knowledge of German, they are pretty easy because you get used to the format and there are many places to find out the German word for baptism, funeral, etc. And it is quite a thrill when you find your ancestor's name!
