Hello all, Ankum and Bersenbruck were wonderful when I visted my Gärke family in that area, and Doethen. I find it interesting how Ankum takes pride in it's streets and ornate town design. It reminds me of how Minster (Ohio) and New Bremen (Ohio) try to outdo each other in keeping their towns up. The Gärke family orignally is decended from the Stottmann line until they bought the Gärke farm and changed their name to match the farm back in old times. Bergman, Holdheide and other names I noted were the same in that area as it was in mine.
