The Germans who settled in Schaumburg, Illinois were from the area around Beckedorf and Luedersfeld and Probsthagen, SW of Hannover -- the Schaumburg area of Germany, now in Niedersachsen. The earliest (1840's) Chicago Germans came from the same area, as did many who settled in Will County and in NW Indiana. There were Germans from the Hanover area in the Chicago area and just south of Schaumburg by 1835. The Fischer family from Estorf, Schmidt from Landesbergen, Franzen from further east, Buchholz etc in Chicago and DuPage county by the fall of 1835. Addison Township, DuPage County became over 70% German immigrants by 1860. The first Lutheran church in NE Illinois was formed in Addison Township made up of German immigrants.
