Mr. Doeltz was born in Witzeetze, Germany. He came to the United States in December 1949, and was proud to become a citizen. He lived in various towns in Ocean County; he resided in Yardley, PA for many years until moving to Whiting in 1985 after he retired from Bill Brown & Company as art director. His passion for art continued even after his retirement with his completion of many oil paintings, and free lance work, and for over 25 years he designed the program cover for the German Heritage Festival held at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel. Mr. Doeltz was a life member of the German American Society in Yardville where he served as president for nine years; he also was Master of Ceremonies for 35 years. He was a member of the Lakewood Männerchor, and the German Heritage Festival Committee. Additionally he had been an avid stamp collector for many years, and as diabetic, he was appointed to the Diabetic Council of New Jersey by the governor of New Jersey. He also was awarded a medal from the Joslin Clinic in Boston and from the E.I. Lilly Company for having no ill effects stemming from his diabetes for over 50 years. Son of the late Wilhelm and Emmie Heuer Doeltz, and husband of the late Gerda Doeltz, he is survived by his wife Verna M. Doeltz; his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Jill and Raymond Drake of Pittsford, NY; stepgrandchildren Christian and Lindsay Drake of Pittsford, NY and Chad Drake of Farmington Hills, MI; two sisters, Waltraud Busse of Chicago and Hella Gantt-Fallon of Marlton; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. A Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the German American Society, Uncle Pete's Road, Yardville. The family will receive family and friends from 3 p.m. until the service. Cremation and interment are private under the direction of Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, Hamilton.
