Eastern Daylight Time, NIEDERSACHSEN-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: Hello list, I enjoyed the articles on St. Viktor's Church in Damme and tried to find the same for St. Jackobus in Soegel. This is the parish where my ancestors-the children of Heinrich WESTENDORF & Gertrud SANDKER-were baptized. They were born in the small village of Eisten just S. of Soegel in the years 1803-1819. I would enjoy any information on this Church or the city of Soegel. Thank you in advance. Jo Westendorf Banks Hi Jo, If you would type the town name "Soegel" into Google, you will come up with some great sites for the town. Also there is a site someone else has with a genealogy of their ancestor Heinrich WESTENDORF. Julie Response: Hi Julie, Funny what a little common sense can tell you. It never dawned on me to Google Soegel. I went there briefly & just the picture of Schloss Clemenswerth will be a wonderful addition to my Westendorf notebooks. I suspect the site you mean was either Barbara Salibi's Emslanders.com or Cathy LaBath's celtic cousins.com. Despite the name this site has a great deal on German families in Scott Co., Iowa & surrounding areas. Cathy is my cousin's daughter-in-law. She had the US research & I added what was found in Germany by the researcher Falk Liebezeit who searched the archives at Osnabrueck for me. Now you know how I will be spending my free time the rest of the week. Thanks so much for a nudge in the right direction. Jo Westendorf Banks
