    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZVC.2ACE/3908.1.1 Message Board Post: I am been unable to find anything definitive seems possible his fathers name may have been Andreas isensee. This is a new spelling of the name I have seen Esensa Essensa Isensee Isense. I guess however they spell it it seems the same Heinrich from Appelton Maine I received the story via three sources + Broad Bay Pioneers , History of the Town of Union Maine and Early Families of The Mackadavy where his grandson my great grandfather settled south western New Brunswick a place called Lee Settlement where I was born I now am retired and live in Northern Alberta Canada My great grandfather was Charles son of David (Heinrichs son) who settled in Harvey Station area of NB It was indicated to me I is pronounced like E in German. Maybe this explains why they spelled it with and E. I read he had someone write for him to Germany to his family who thought he was dead so it sounds like he probably did not write which was common in those times.I could find no record of any variation ! of Essensa on German sites only Isensee wjich is a place near North sea meaning sea of Ice.Also there were references to Hessian soldier all German soldiers were called Hessians by early Americans he came from Brunswick not Hesse from what I read. Which branch are you from the NB OR Maine? This is not very helpful I realize but no one responds to my postings on German sites if they do I will post something for you regards Dale Essensa
