What about the name SALOME? (She was referred to as "Salley" in the 1860 census). This name struck me as rather unusual and I was hoping it might have been passed down in her family, perhaps giving us a clue. Hi, I checked on my CD Here is a Babst researcher Babst /Pabst 1700-9999 römisch-katholisch Deutschland -D- 31100 Hildesheim Niedersachsen Marie-Luise Springer Fischergasse 9 D 84100 Niederaichbach I checked for a Flori researcher none of them are researching a Flori family in Niedersachsen. All thr Flori families are more from the southern part of Germany. Katharina
Katharina - Thanks for the information. Perhaps I can contact the Babst researcher - is that a mail address (as is, the entire thing the way it's written, or just the 2nd part...or?)? Might there be an e-mail contact or would I first need to communicate by regular mail? Obviously, I am a "newbie", at least to this list, and I am not familiar with German addresses. Can I expect that Marie-Luise Springer or someone in her office might read/write English? Is there some sort of etiquette or style guide available as an aid to writing to persons in Germany? (Even in English I suppose there would be a correct way to do this, and I don't want to give offense...). Please contact me off-list if that is more appropriate. Thank you very much for your attention!
