We're researching the Jatho surname in Cassel and Dransfeld. Earliest known ancestor was Georg Heinrich Wilhelm Jatho, born about 1790, possibly in Cassel. He married Henriette Habich. Their son Georg Wilhelm Jatho was born on January 24, 1824 and emigrated to the USA in 1848, settling in Charleston SC. We have the Charleston Jathos documented fairly well: http://www.sakionline.net/familypage/jatho.shtml but are also looking for possible connections to other Jatho families who settled in Illinois and Missouri.
