There is a book called Von Heuerleuten und Farmern by Walter D. Kamphoefner, Peter Marschalck, and Birgit Nolte-Schuster written in English and German, side by side (copyrighted in 1999). A woman in Germany gave me my copy but I have seen it at genealogy fairs. The book is divided into sections: Population and Social Structure; Ships & Agents; Chain Migration, Settlement Patterns, Integration; and From Gehrde to New York and back. I highly recommend it.
