I'm researching the Jatho family, originally from Dransfeld, Hannover. Georg Wilhelm Jatho (my great-great-grandfather) was born there January 24, 1824 and emigrated to the USA around 1850 to Charleston, South Carolina. He married Elise Schuchmann (born 1829 in Hesse-Darmstadt) in Charleston around 1851. G.W. died in 1870 in Greenwood, South Carolina, Elise in 1910 in Charleston.
