Mahlum is no longer an independent village. In 1974, Mahlum was one of a number of villages annexed by nearby BOCKENEM. So today, Mahlum is a section of the city of Bockenem. This is a little bit tricky, because Bockenem was not located in pre-1945 Brunswick like Mahlum was. Bockenem, a short distance west of Mahlum, was located in what was until 1945 the neighboring Prussian province of HANOVER (in German: Hannover).
