My family name is HEINS. My relation "Johann Friedrich" cameover to England from Hannover in about the 1840/50s and he too worked in the sugar industry, but in the East End of London. During that time there was a large influx of German Immigrants to England and the USA. On Johann's marriage certificate dated 1854 in London, the witness's names on that certificate were that of "Nicholas Gerken and Ann Meyer". Not sure if this helps you, but good luck. Fred Hines.
