    3. I was interested in the note about Calenberg. My family came from there in a little town just west of the Leine River. Where can I find out something about this principality (in English) and while I am at it, what exactly is a principality? I have used this word myself and haven't a clue as to what it means. The surnames I have so far are AMMERMANN - Ostfriesland, BOEKHOFF - Ostfriesland, KLAASSEN (we think that is the correct spelling, bit hard to read the old script) - Ostfriesland, ROSKAM or ROSERN (again a bit hard to read the old script) - Ostfriesland, VON OVEN - Bremerhaven and LÜDEMANN - Hamburg. Anyone with these names in their family trees would love to make contact.
