I am researching the Cincinnati line of the family but there is also a Canton Ohio line that I am not as familiar with, but if she came through Philadelphia she might have gone west to northern Ohio??? I am happy to respond to any other questions that you might have. Please reply to this as well as to my email at jack@nieporte.com

I have research that puts our Nieporte family in Buhren, Epe, Malgarten as well as Osnabruck in the 1700-1800's. Do you know that name at all and would you give me any advice beyond that which you have given? Thanks. Reply to this address as well as jack@nieporte.com

Lina came through Ellis Island on 18Aug1903 aboard the Kaiser Whilhelm II. She was traveling with her uncle, Ernst Hennies, and her cousin, Carl. Their final destination was her uncle's home in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. According to the ships manifest Lina was 11 years old and a citizen of Germany from the town of Wieringen (possibly Wirringen). Lina's uncle, Ernst Hennies, is my great grandfather. Would appreciate any information.

I have ancestors in Malgarten, Buhren and Epe near Osnabruck; and probably as you say, others in Osnabruck itself. I have had some success with these since I purchased a book on the history of Epe while I was over in Germany in 2001. My last known relative is Johann Bernard Nieporte b. abt 1800 in that area. He was married to Catherina Maria Bockhorst in 1800. She is the person who I have records of who came over on the Louis Henry ship in 1856 and then went to Cincinnati, Ohio. Any help would be appreciated!!
