If you subscribe to ancestry.com ... you can search some of the databases by place. Limited results. Most places have been entered as Germany or Prussia, not by town. You can search: http://www.genealogienetz.de/index.html by place ... but this only contains what others have submitted. So it is also nets limited results. I have tried googling for "Ankum genealogy", etc., etc. Unfortunally, the results are usually too much to read in one day. Hopefully another lister will have more information. Good Luck. Becky

A German researcher was able to locate some records on the family in the archives at Hannover, documenting the paternal line back to about 1706. I've had great success with microfilmed records from Württemberg, but am having difficulty finding records for this area for the appropriate time period in the Family History Center library. I would like to be able to research this line before making a trip to Germany in about a year. Would appreciate any help anyone could offer in finding resources for this area.

    1. Re: Miller Ancestry from present to past from Germany to Pennsylvania...
    2. Dear Benjamin, Some month ago an old great-aunt told me that her father had two siblings which emigrated to the US. I am searching for them and their descendants with no result until today... My aunt told me also, that they have lost the contact to this relatives after my great-grandfathers death in 1926. My great-grandfathers name was Karl-Christian Bessert gen. Miller. He has asked for permission to change his name from "Bessert gen. Miller" to "Miller" but the permission came a few weeks after his death. The names of the emigrated siblings were Emil and Elisabeth Miller. Emil was born about 1865 and Elisabeth was born about 1870. My mother can remember herself of some very old photographs which are showing Emil and Elisabeth with their families. But after g-grandma's death nobody could find this old photographs... The family was originated in Greifswald/Pommern. By the way when you are searching for "Miller" in Germany many people will tell you that the name of the family were in Germany "Müller/Mueller". Now, my "Miller" were always "Miller" and never "Mueller". with kind regards, Christoph Haupt -- Haupt'S finden&suchen Christoph Haupt Am Friedenstal 1 D-30627 Hannover 0(049) 511 - 522313 0(049) 511 - 8793208 chg.C.Haupt@t-online.de www.haupt-researcher.de <ashleyandben@ec.rr.com> schrieb: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Miller, Folden,Thorn, Longdon, Kratz > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZVC.2ACE/3987 > > Message Board Post: > > This is a Lineage of the "Miller" Ancestry that I have complied of my family: > > Father > > Name: Laird Keith Miller > Parents: Willard Elmer Miller and Delta Mae Thorn > Born: June 16, 1956 in Zanesville, Ohio > Brother(s): None > Sister(s): Terisa, Jackie and Melody > Married: December 10, 1976(20) To Stephanie Barbara Folden (21) (Born June14, 1955 in Zanesville,Ohio) in Havelock, North Carolina > Daughter(s): Sarah > Son(s): Jeremiah, David and Benjamin > Died: > > > GrandFather > > Name: Willard Elmer Miller > Parents: Willard C Miller and Anna Longdon > Born: November 13, 1926 in Nashport, Ohio > Brother(s): Laiard and Twin Infant Boys > Sister(s): Mary, Mary Ann, Faith Ann, Peggy and Hope > Married: July 28, 1949 (23) To Delta Mae Thorn (16) (Born June 22, 1933 in Camden-on-Gauley, West Virginia) at Camden-on-Gauley, West Virginia > Daughter(s): Terisa, Jackie, and Melody > Son(s): Laird (Keith) > Died: June 28, 2004 (78) in Zanesville, Ohio > > Great GrandFather > > Name: Willard C Miller > Parents: Elmer W. The latter Johan wouldn't have been the oldest son but I have no other information on his siblings. He came to America in 1863 and married TECLA BRINKMANN from Lahn, Werlte, Germany in August, 1863. I suspect that he would have been cousins with a MARIA GESINA UNTHYT, also from Wehm. The JOHAN DETERS of 1797 and was the child of GERD SIEVERS (maybe Deters) and TECLA DETERS. 1. Evangelical/Luthran union
    2. I'm wondering how the Reformed/Lutheran union might have played itself out in the lives of some of my relatives. I have ancestors from Buer, Kingdom of Hannover. My g-g-grandfather PRANTE and three of his siblings came to America in 1842 and settled in southeastern Indiana/northern Kentucky. My g-g-grandfather and his sister were members of a Lutheran church in Farmers Retreat. I think one of his brothers was a member of a neighboring Lutheran church, but the other brother was a member of a German Reformed church in Louisville. Other PRANTES who settled in southeastern Missouri, were also in German Reformed churches. As far as I can tell, there was only one church in Buer--Lutheran, to my knowledge. Did the formerly Reformed or formerly Lutheran churches now united, share clergy and mingle theologies such that family members would go either way once they arrived in the US? This seems to be the only family in my ancestry that did this. Thanks, Marilyn
