    3. As usual, I am puzzled by these terse posts that come to us from a message board with the introduction of: "This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list." This latest one is a classic in its terseness. What is it with these so-called Message Boards; do they charge users by the word? Bart

There is also a small city in the former province of Hanover with the name Herzberg am Harz. Near this city, so about 10 km away, is another city with the name Osterode am Harz. I think thats your Osterow. You will find in the city of Herzberg a lot of people withn the name Klapproth. After 1866 the Kingdom of Hanover became a part of Prussia. Kind regards Horst Böcker

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Hempel, Klapperodt Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZVC.2ACE/4062 Message Board Post: I am seeking information about a Hempel family that lived possibly in Hanover in the later middle third of the nineteenth century. Charles Hempel was born in 1822 or 23, and his wife Augusta Klapperodt was born about 1827. They emigrated with their sons (Charles, Ernest, and John) to America (Norfolk County Mass) in 1865. In the 1870 American census Charles Hempel Sr (filed under the name Hempler and indexed as Kempler) is listed as being "born in Prussia" and his wife Augusta Klapperodt (as well as the boys) born in Hanover. *However* Augusta's gravestone in Plainville Mass indicates she was born in Prussia as well (Herzberg, which is a town outside of Berlin). To complicate matters further, Charles Hempel Jr's entry in the 1880 American census indicates he was born in "Osterow" Germany. There is no such place as Osterow Germany, but there is a Wustrau Germany a few miles from Herzberg. It seems possible that the Hempels may have moved to Hanover after the birth of Charles (William) Hempel (Jr) before leaving for America in the mid 1860s from Hamburg(?). I am seeking any information that might be available about this family's origins and background in Germany.

Both are on the Vistula (Weichsel) River about 95 miles due South of Danzig (Gdansk). Basic information on this part of the “Haase” family follows... 3. Hello, I would like to thank you for your contribution(s)to the Message Board. But something was incorrect with your most recent post(s) to the boards on Ancestry.com/RootsWeb.com FYI: Please do not use a slash (/) to separate surnames in the surname field. This confuses the search engine. The system accepts a comma and a space only. This field is for surnames only. Please do not include any other verbiage such as "family." I have corrected the error so if you review your post you will find the corrected message and not the original. For a complete set of Message Board Guidelines please see: http://jasche.com/boards.html NOTE: At the bottom of each message board page there are links to MESSAGE BOARD RULES and MESSAGE BOARD FAQ. Each of these links will provide you with official instructions. The purpose of this email is instructional. In no way is it meant to admonish or offend you. These instructions are to help keep the message board search engine be more efficient for future researchers. (These are not my rules but that of ancestry/rootsweb.com, and have been in place for a number of years.) It's possible that you have used the boards for many years and no one has ever written to you. Board admins have different ways of taking care of the boards. This is simply my way of helping to keep the message board search engine efficient. This message is not being sent to you by a computer, but by a real live human being using a computer. ;-) Thanks for your contribution to genealogy. 2. Monna Lienemann
    3. Hello I am wondering if any of the Waredenburg Parish Records for the Lutheran Church have been microfilmed and available online. When we were in the USAF in Germany we made a trip to northern Germany and did visit the parish there but our time was limited. I am interested in finding out more information on our family. Some of our names are Stover, Lienemann, Neimann, Speckmann and Oldenburg. They were from the villages of Wardenburg, Littel, Westerholt and Oberlethe. Any information that anyone can give me concerning research in that area would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Monna Lienemann Blackfoot, Idaho USA

Are you a professional genealogy researcher? I have done some research on Rev. Terry and I believe he moved to Evanston, Illinois in 1890 or so and was associated with the Garrett Biblical Institute which may be afiliated with the Methodist church. Perhaps old church records, if available, will be helpful with finding out where my gr, grandfather came from in Germany. Thanks again for your help.

Surnames: Bennewitz Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZVC.2ACE/4057.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I believe the family was Lutheran, since my gr. grandfather is buried in the Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery on Long Island. I have copies of both marriage certificates. One of them just says he was born in Germany and the first one, from 1878, says Ollendorf, Hanover Germany. I am not confident in the information. Each certificate gives his father a different name. The 1878 certif. says it is Hermann and the 1884 certif. says Peter. I have the names of both clergymen, but not a church, so it may have been a civil ceremony. Everywhere I turn, I seem to hit a brick wall. Incidentally, on his death certificate. it says his father's name was Christian (that now makes three different first names).
