I have an old birth record that indicates the father was born in: LINGERICH ON WALESSE. This was recorded in an American county clerk's office so it is probably garbled, particularly the Walesse. Is there anyone who knows the area and could give me a clue as to where it might be? Maybe the Weser-Ems area? Thank you, Cynthia in California

By the way, there are at least 4 villages by the name of Hanstedt in Lower Saxony so the book Robert suggests may not be helpful to you. 1) Hanstedt, Landkreis (county) Rotenburg/Wümme 2) Hanstedt I, Landkreis Harburg 3) Hanstedt II, Landkreis Harburg 4) Hanstedt, Landkreis Uelzen I am the daughter of Ewald Albers, who is familiar with the first Hanstedt on my list. I have just spoken to him. On first hearing this, he suggests that this should rather be one of the other villages. Hella P.S. For all questions, please keep using this newslist rather than writing to him; we have been inundated with letters after this address has been published on the internet several times. -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: NIEDERSACHSEN-L-request@rootsweb.com [mailto:NIEDERSACHSEN-L-request@rootsweb.com]Im Auftrag von Robert Owens Gesendet: Mittwoch, 9. They were Lutheran. Johann H. Plumer (01 October 1795 - 02 April 1883) started the "mother" church for many of the Lutheran churches around Council Bluffs Iowa. Johann may have been born in Schobrink which is now part of Diepholz. He and his wife, born Maria Martha Henrietta Gelthaus (1798-1859), and 6 children came to Missouri in the 1840s, then moved to southwest Iowa in 1851. www.plumersettlement.org lists burials in the Lutheran cemetery next to the mother church.

Hello Robert, I saw your posting and decided to contact you also. I am searching for the surname "Wellbrock" in the Bremervöde area. I am especially looking for birth, baptism, marriage and death records form St. Liborius-Kirche in Bremervöde. Any insight or information would be appreciated. Would you know if there was a "chronic" written about this area?
