Have you done a search on www.familysearch.org THere are quite a lot of Nicholls from Staffordshire. And a couple of Eiljahs but not with a father Joseph My grandfather Thomas Nicholls was born about 1864 in Sedgely, the area now known as Dudley, which counted as Staffordshire at that time. His father was JONAS but on his marriage cert. this is written as JOSEPH - so beware........ They went that way looking for coal, just as they went to Wales, so I am sure our "greats" probably knew each other and were possibly related but not directly. Let's hope we find out Good luck Iris
Iris, Many thanks for your input. I have a recollection that there was an Eli around the time I was interested in but I haven't noted where he(?) originated. Well back to the records for another look. Thanks again, Rob Appleby Researching: N.E.
