Came across this message from Gary and was wondering if anyone in the group can help him. After reading it wondering if this is one of my longlost Nicholls!! I am at a standstill with my own! I have been researching my own surname of STEGGLES, and the NICHOLS(LS) surname is linked within it. I do not know much about my NICHOL(LS) ancestors, apart from the following: Mr. NICHOL(LS), Christian name unknown: Born 1889, possibly Lambeth, or surrounding area's in London. Date of death 1952. Wife of Mr.NICHOL(LS) was a Miss Newman, again, Christian name unknown, Born Abt. 1885, again possibly in London. The couple had 3 children, all girls: ELLEN LOUISE NICHOL(L)S, Born 1913, Lambeth or Elephant and Castle in London. DOLLY NICHOL(L)S ELSIE NICHOL(L)S ELLEN married my Grandfather ALBERT CHARLES STEGGLES, Born 1911, Lambeth, London. DOLLY married a Mr. CLIFFORD, nothing is known about this person. ELSIE married a Mr. ALAN BRISK(E), he was a G.I, over in England, it is not known at this time if the couple married in England, or if they married in America. After the marriage, if it was in England, the couple went back to America, this is where they then stayed. Most, if not all of the above were born in London, but it appears that the NICHOL(L)S family were very influential in London back in those days, and this also applies to the NEWMAN family. Some members of the NEWMAN and NICHOL(L)S families were also famous in their own right, some were money lenders, who were not to be crossed, other members were or married to famous painters, builders, and one was a church minister.
