    1. [NICHOLLS] Web Pages now on line
    2. Sharon Symons
    3. Hi there everyone, Well basic web pages are now up and working for the list. We now need links and other information to go on them. Rootsweb at the present are updating servers so I can't get a search programme for the pages at the moment, but as so as work is complete I will install one therefore making births, deaths and marriages easier to use. I am also in the process of registering the pages with the search engines therefore hopefully attracting more members and more vital information. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mylists/Nicholls/ Whenever the pages are updated I will post to the list keeping you all informed. I have combined my two lists NICHOL, & NICHOLLS on these pages, as I have noticed throughout my research that spelling has never been one of 'a recorders' top priority. Good luck in your research Sharon List Administrator [email protected]

    1. [NICHOLLS] Web Pages - New Link
    2. Sharon Symons
    3. Thank to all those who responded. I would just like to answer a couple of questions that have cropped up Firstly I would like to say that I have no pre set ideas on how or how much info include with each entry, that is why I throw it open for all comments. I thought the pages could evolve with the requirements and suggestions that I receive. One question has been would we include the parents names with birth / christening info, my thought is we would have to I also thought source should be included Some people have commented that a brick wall page would be very like the queries board, I must admit it would be very similar, but were as the queries board lets you put as much information as you wish this would be more of a list of names to include (if known) location and date or approx. date of event and perhaps another thing i.e. wives name child's name but thats all. I also run another list Nichol, I thought that these additional pages could be shared, you never know when the priest spelt it wrong? Keep the ideas coming, the pages are up and I have added a NICHOLLS web site link. Sharon http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mylists/nich.htm

    1. [NICHOLLS] Web Pages
    2. Sharon Symons
    3. Hello everyone, There is now some web pages in connection with our list http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mylists/nich.htm at the moment it just tells us the basics of using the list subscribing, unsubscribing, GenBoard address, archive address etc.. I would like to add more and would very much appreciate any suggestion that you might have. I have listed some on the things I thought so here goes brick wall page - I thought that we all hit brick walls and having a dedicated page might be easier for people to assist us (not a general query that could be posted to the query Board but a dead end i.e.. John NICHOLLS abt. 1808 Gwennap Cornwall births - were we could register births or baptisms ( not yet support by a GenBoard) Marriages - registering of marriages (not yet support by a GenBoard) Deaths - registering of deaths or burials (not yet support by a GenBoard but no obituaries as this is supported by GenBoard) I also thought we could post pictures maps or anything that people could go and down load, perhaps leaving them up for a week or so. You would not need to just post people from your tree but any scribed down in the search. When the pages are updated a message would be posted to the list. Please let me know your feelings on this, even if it is that you think it is all a bad idea. Sharon

    3. I am not doing too well with my Nicholls family. Daniel Nicholls married Mary Lyddieth on 15th October, 1849 at St Nicholas in Liverpool. Daniel's residence was Struckland St and Mary's was Fox St. His father was William and her parents were James Lyddieth and Maria Rushton. Witnesses at the marriage were Robert and Margaret Lyddieth The first child, George, born but I have no details of where or when and I would love to find any information on this child. . The next event I have is the second child, James (my g grandfather), being born in Gundagai, Australia in 1864. The gap is 15 years. I do have information to hand that Daniel and Mary were on the 1851 Census as was her Mother, Maria and her children Robert and Margaret. Maria is on the 1881 Census living with her daughter Margaret, her husband and their children, but by this time Daniel and Mary would have been in Australia. Any help would be most appreciated. kind regards Val Rickaby Sunshine Coast

    3. Hi I have just joined your list and am also new to computers and tracing my family. This is what I have found out about my grandmother. Her name was Annie NICOLLS, born 1900/1901, Occupation - Mental Nurse. She gave birth to my mother in St Marlyebone Infirmary, London in 1921, her address was given as 80 Cable Street, London. I have now found this to be a Public House (The Blue Anchor). Her next of kin was given as Annie Caroline MUNFORD an aunt whose husband was Charles MUNFORD who was the licensee of the Blue Anchor. Apparently she was a nurse at the hospital my mother was born, which could be St Marlylebone or it could also have been Queen Charlottes as she was transferred from there on the day of my mothers birth. She was discharged and presumably took the baby home to Cable Street, She later took her to Yorkshire and left her with the father who was named SLEE who together with his wife brought her up. I have found 12 possible Annie NICHOLLS born during 1900/01 only 3 from London the rest all over the country. As she was a nurse she may not have been born in London but could have come from anywhere. Does anyone have any info about this NICHOLLS or perhaps could give me a few leads. Thanks Pam [email protected]

    2. Dear All, I'm a new subscriber to the list. I'm looking for any living relatives or information of a Jack (John?) Nicholls last known to be in Eastbourne around 1930. His first wife was Agnes Maud Mary Nicholls (nee Chapman) with whom he had one daughter - my grandmother - Joan Daphne Nicholls (Married name Sparks), b 26-10-23. Jack and Agnes divorced and he moved, as I mentioned, to Eastbourne thereafter - I'm guessing at around 1930-ish - my grandmother said it all happened when she was still a child. I believe that he was also from there originally (he lived in London while married to Agnes). My grandmother was told that he remarried and had further children and as she is an only child so to speak (her mother disallowed contact with her father), we would be more than happy to know if any of her brothers or sisters are still alive and would like to get in touch with her. Many TIA, Linda Derham
