    3. I am researching my father's family, a branch of the Nicholls clan who lived at 37, Hungerford Street, Islington, London between 1900 and 1939. He was James William Nicholls as was his father. His mother was Emma Elizabeth (formerly Partridge). For some reason my father was estranged from his family and I never got to meet my grandparents or the family on his side. I believe there were seven brothers one of whom was named George. My father enlisted in the Territorial Army from 1911 and served at Gallipoli with the 1st/3rd Field Ambulance RAMC before his discharge in 1920. He died in January 1965 in his retirement from the Telephone Service of the GPO. I have collected a great deal of information on my father but can find little on his family and my paternal ancestors. Can anyone shed any light on the Nicholls's of East London? David Nicholls. Selsey. July 2000.

    2. I'm new to the list, but it doesn't appear to have heavy traffic, so I don't see the harm in cross posting. Actually, it would be great for me, since this list only covers one of the spellings used by my ancestors and/or folks who made reference to them. Would you also monitor other lists to check for replies made to those lists or would we need to subscribe to those lists as well?
