Lynda, you don't have "William Godwin" or Giffard" Nicholls do you. Somewhat unusual! The latter is my gfather; William G his father; from Olton, Solihull (Brimgham). Giffard, with brothers Erskine (Ernie) and Stanley emigrated to New Zealand circa 1900. ----- Original Message ----- From: Lynda Kemp <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, November 01, 2000 3:49 PM Subject: [NICHOLLS] Nicholls of Middlesex > Dear Jane Moffitt > > I suspect there is no connection but I thought I should touch bases just > in case. Published with kind permission from Stuart Nicholls PLEASE REPLY TO [email protected] ===================================================================== ===================================================================== Hi - I'm new to genealogy but am keen to record my family tree - however, there are few surviving relatives that I am in contact with - I started with a visit to the local FHC and can only book one visit a month at the Church of LDS. I'm using GenoPro to collate the data and for obtaining printouts for my surviving relatives - a few prints have jogged some memories and thus advanced the cause... My search has stalled on the parents of my great-grandfather William NICHOLLS b.1890 ish d. 1965 m.1910 to Alice ATKINSON (we think) b.1891 d. 1974. The NICHOLLS family seem to come from Longton/Dresden (Staffordshire). While that's underway, I'm also looking at my mother's side NEALE and have got to my great-grandfather and his wife; Richard NEALE b.1884 d. 1961 married to Winifred Maud HEATH b.1887 d.1947. Marriage date unknown. They resided in Longton, Fenton and Biddulph (Staffs again). I'll be visiting Hanley Library later in Nov' to book a session in their Parish records to see if I can get any further - but any info. anyone can provide me with is appreciated... Thanks in advance, Stuart Nicholls.

Hi, I have been researching the NICHOLLS name for my brother in law. Unfortunately I have relatively quickly reached a dead end. The last ancestor in his line is one Job NICHOLS, born in or around 1789 in Hooking Norton, Oxfordshire ( also entries for Epwell, in the same area). The IGI record for Job does not list any parents, only a relative, one Frederick SMITH. Job had a brother, James, who also had the same relative listed on his record, with no parents. Does anybody know what the most likely explanation for this is? Or does anyone have these individuals in their history? Thanks a lot, Mark.
I have not been to either of these sites but thought they might help someone Sharon URL: http://members.aol.com/MissFamilies TITLE: Neshoba County, Mississippi, 1850 Census DESCRIPTION: Transcription (with surname index) of Neshoba County, Mississippi, 1850 census. Dear Jane Moffitt I suspect there is no connection but I thought I should touch bases just in case. You were talking about John and Elizabeth Nicholls of Middlesex but did not mention a time frame. My Nicholls are from the Birmingham area and some of the names are similar. In my family, Benjamin Nicholls (b.1802) married Fanny Pearce in 1821 in Dudley. Among the 8 children that I know of there was a Mary Ann (b 1824), a Thomas (b. 1838) and an Elizabeth (b.1840). These are all common and probably not family names, but you never know. Lynda Kemp
The Nicholls that I am looking for are from New Brentford, Middlesex, England. John Christopher Nicholls married to Elizabeth Nuthall Nicholls. Children: Henry Thomas, Hamby, Mary, and Elizabeth Nicholls. Thanks for any information. Greetings! I am looking for the ancestors of William Nicholls, who came from Devonshire to Binbrook, Ontario, Canada (farming comunity 50 miles west of Niagara Falls, South of Toronto) sometime between 1833-1837 based on the birth information of son George's children. If I can make this link back to the UK I can begin research on my family there! I am in Western Massachusetts, USA. Thanks in advance for any help!
