    1. [NICHOLLS] NICHOLLS, James born Truro area 1836 NICHOLLS, Harry born Manchester area 1856
    2. Good Afternoon listers We are hunting for more details concerning James NICHOLLS James was born to William Hodges Nicholls and Jane Rundle about September 1836, christened at St Mary's Truro 11 July 1837 We have discovered via the census that James was [1871] a solicitors general clerk and [1881] a law clerk, then a law writer in London. James married Harriet Bawden we think in Leicester, England after the birth of their son HARRY NICHOLLS  who was born in Manchester in 1856. We lost James once he, Harriet and Harry moved to London  where they were recorded in the civil parish of St Luke, in the ecclesiastical parish  of St Mary, in the county of London. We would appreciate hearing from any body who may some idea where James, Harriet and Harry are.... Four of his bothers and sisters emigrated to Australia but we have not found any links. Signed  Matriarch Nicholls

    1. [NICHOLLS] Seeking info re Archibald Nicolls/Nicholls c. 1845-1885
    2. Alistair hmmmm
    3. Hello, I am new to the list and I am hoping someone will be able to help me. I am seeking any further information about Archibald Nicolls/Nicholls, born c.1845 in Ireland and but unsure when/where he died but it was before the 1900 US Census when his wife was listed as a widow, who married Ann Hunt in 1870 at Mohill, and any of their children. They had seven children all born in Ireland: Arthur James (who m. Margaret E. McCormick), James (who m. Margaret - ?), Fannie Jane (who m. James Williamson), Robert Christopher (who m. Mary Eleanor Graham), Sara Anne (who m. John George Hoy), Thomas William, Margaret/Maggie and Archibald Hunt. Archibald and Ann and all their children emigrated to Manhattan, NY between 1886 and 1896 where the various children got married and had their own children. I have most of them in the Census for various years but I am hoping the above information will ring a bell with someone. Regards, Alistair (London, England)

    3. Posted with the kind permission of the Listowner. You are cordially invited to visit www.familynotices.org, a totally non-commercial & privately-owned site. Following the death of a close family member, I was surprised at the charges levied by the local newspaper for posting just a small obituary. The same applies to birth, engagement, marriages notices et al. It made me think through the whole 'public notices' thing and I created FamilyNotices.org which is an on-line repository for all such, with no fees or charges to view, search or post. Unlike a newspaper this has the advantage of being world-wide, free and doesn't get thrown away! Please feel free to help yourself and post anything which is relevant and appropriate - and it doesn't have to be current. Details of 'Auntie Millie born in 1896' is just as relevant as a modern-day wedding notice. If you like it, please tell your friends, for anyone is welcome to post good news or sad news. .........& if you don't, just tell me! Cheers for now, Nigel ______________________________________________ FamilyNotices.org - the free online repository for all notices of Births, Deaths, Marriages, Engagements, Anniversaries and Missing Persons Doing it for free - unlike the newspapers !
