Looking for an ALEXANDER male who was born by 1786 & who married a woman from Connecticutt. I have a Sarah ALEXANDER b. 1803-1805 who md probably in Cayuga Co NY about 1822. She says she was born in Vt/Mass and that her father was born in NH her mother was born in Ct. I have no siblings for Sarah. Sarah and her husband, Peter HADLOCK moved to Asht. Co. by 1830 and then into Crawford Co. Pa by 1840. I know that there are descendents of Phillip (b.Scotland) and Johanna (Roberts) ALEXANDER, who came from Massachusetts & lived in Acworth, NH in the late 1700's and some of them moved into Crawford Co. Pa...Am trying to find out if Sarah is a part of this family. Thanks, Selma

I am applying for membership to DAR. My ancestor grandfather, Bethuel MILLER was from NH, but he served under Col. Benjamin BELLOWS in the relief of Fort Ticonderoga. I have discovered he is listed in the following, but I live in Oregon and don't have access to any of the following. One of the questions on the DAR form is; What were his services during the Revolutionary War. Would somebody PLEASE try to look my ancestor Bethuel MILLER up in one of the following? In the 1860 Census there appears a John REED, the age of my John REED in the Alms House. My question is: Where do I look for records from the poor house. I will be in Claremont in a couple of weeks to do some research and am needing to know. It would seem to me that if John died there there could be death records, next of kin records etc. Ken Nelson knelson@ct1.nai.net
My Rogers family moved from Londonderry to Acworth in the 1760's. A lot of their children were born in Acworth. Looking for info on any related families to mine. Ed rogers
Hi everyone, I'm the manager of the Sullivan Co, NH USGenWeb Archives. The USGenWeb Archive was developed to present actual transcriptions of public domain records on the Internet. This huge undertaking is the cooperative effort of volunteers who either have electronically formatted files on census records, marriage bonds, wills, and other public documents, or are willing to transcribe this information to contribute. We only have records in our county archives for Charlestown. Is anyone else working transcribing information from towns in Sullivan Co. who would be willing to donate them to the archives? You will be given acknowledgement for your submissions. The information must not be copyrighted. The current contents may be viewed and files downloaded at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nh/sullivan.htm Thank you for your help. Hello Everyone. I'm hosting the USGenWeb page for Langdon. I haven't had much traffic there. I'd like to make the page better!! I have a queries page where I post Langdon related queries. I'd be more than happy to add entries for anyone interested. I'd also be interested in old (non-copyrighted) photos which I could place on the page like a photo album (of town buildings, people, etc.) Any interest out there???? I'm still to track my elusive US ancestors so I'm having another try at finding a fellow researcher. Clement M DAVIS b.1-9-1995 in Portsmouth, NH, married Sarah STEVENS b.5-3-1798 on 12-7-1817 in Lee,NH. They had ten children, the sixth was Henry Burley DAVIS who emigrated to Australia during the days of the Victorian gold rush. Any takers? Regards Peter Coffee Camp Australia
Seeking descendants of Corliss C Porter (AKA Collis Porter) b: April 10, 1832 in Vermont, d: February 25, 1933 in Walpole, Cheshire County, New Hampshire. Married May 10, 1866 in Chester, Windsor County, Vermont Sophia A Palmer b: March 1, 1849 in Westport, Essex County, New York, d: April 16, 1907 (I cannot find where she died). Sophia's parents were Joseph and Rosilla Palmer. They supposedly came from Toronto, Canada and had Sophia, Charles (died young) and Julius and were in Alstead, Cheshire Co, NH. Corliss had a sister Ada Phillip Porter b: June 15, 1850 in Ascutneyville, Windsor County, Vermont, d: July 10, 1937 in Claremont, Sullivan County, New Hampshire. She married 3 times: (1) Patrick Wilson, (2) John Warner, (3) Henry Daniel Pecor. The Bashaw, Benware and Pecor families are intermarried multiple times with this family. They were often around Charlestown and Langdon as well as Alstead and Walpole in Chesire County. Would like to be able to fill in more on the collateral lines as well as their ancestry. Here is a interesting article that may help find a missing ancestor. It's about a wonderful witty man with a really wild hobby -- grave yard dowsing! With two little metal rods or even a bent coat hanger, he can workout the dimensions of a grave, and tell if it is a man or a woman. Joan Rose has written a very interesting article that can be seen in the current issue of the Signal, the biweekly newsletter of the US Internet Genealogical Society. You can read it at http://www.usigs.org/signal/signal.htm I hope you take a look. And P.S. Talking about cemeteries -- In the same issue, Pam Reitsch tells how a Boy Scout in her area took over the project of cleaning up and improving an old cemetery. It is worth considering as an Eagle Award project in your area. **************************************************** James A. This is of interest to all Genealogist Did you all know that a new law was passed through Congress and signed by the President that extends the copyright law by another 20 years? What does this mean to genealogists? For one thing, those newspaper obits you want to transcribe and put on line are now protected for another 20 years. So if the obit was published after 1922 it is protected by copyright law until 2019. There is an article at http://www.usigs.org/signal/98-11-2.htm that explains more. The article was written by Richard W. Eastman who also writes 'Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter'. **************************************************** James A.
