My husband bought me a piece of mourning jewelry with the following engraved on the back; Isaac Mansfield April 26, 1850 Ae 64 Yrs. He bought it from a dealer from Wallingford, Conn, who said it had come from a Meriden, Conn estate...but, who knows. I googled Isaac and found what must be the same fella...he was listed as being born Dec, 1786 in Exeter, Rockingham NH and d Ap;ril 26, 1850 (so I can't imagine this isn't the fella I'm looking for.) The online info said he married Mary A. Smith Avery on July 9, 1812 in Boston, Suffolk, Mass. I would sure love to know about Isaac, and find, perhaps a family member who would like pictures of this touching death jewelry....it has a small glass container that has a braid of hair in it, surrounded by black enamel and a gold rim and back.
