I've "rescued" three photographs belonging to the PIPER family of New Hampshire. The first is a photograph of John PIPER which was taken at the W. N. Hobbs Studio in Exeter, NH in 1880. In addition to John's name, someone has also written "Grandfather" on the back of this photograph. The second photograph is one of Eliza Ann FRENCH aka Mrs. John PIPER which was taken at the same studio in 1880. The couple appears to be in their 60's or 70's at the time. The third photograph is one of J. H. PIPER, probably taken in the 1870's, he looks to be in his 40's or 50's at the time. There is no studio or location identified on this photograph. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this PIPER Family: John C. PIPER was b. in 1800 or 1801 in New Hampshire to parents John PIPER (1767-1850) and Theodosia WIGGIN (1773-1831). John C. was one of 7 children born to this couple including, Richard Wiggin; Merrick; Samuel R.; Theodosia L.; Nancy; John C.; and Sarah PIPER, all born between 1790 and 1804. John C. married Elizabeth "Eliza" A. FRENCH (b. 1809 in New Hampshire to parents Joseph FRENCH and Rachel SINCLAIR-d. aft 1870 in Stratham, NH). They had six children including, Joseph F.; John Henry; Daniel William; Charles E.; Orrin or Orren A. or H.; and Anna or Annie Eliza PIPER all born between 1830 and 1845. John PIPER died in 1881 in Kensington, NH. His son John Henry PIPER was b. 23 Feb 1833 in Stratham, NH and d. 17 Jan 1913 in Westborough, MA. Daughter Anna or Annie married into the GOVE Family. Census records provide the following detail: 1860 census of Kensington, NH: John PIPER, age 59, a Farmer, born NH Eliza A. PIPER, age 51, born NH Daniel W. PIPER, age 29, a Farmer, born NH Orrin A. PIPER, age 18, a Farmer, born NH Anna E. PIPER, age 15, born NH 1870 census of New Hampshire: John PIPER, age 69, a Farmer, born NH Eliza A. PIPER, age 61, Keeping House, born NH Orin A. PIPER, age 28, a Farmer, born NH Living directly next door.Nathaniel & Mary A. FRENCH and family 1880 census of Kensington, NH: John PIPER, age 79, a Farmer, born NH, parents born NH Eliza PIPER, wife, age 71, Keeps House, born NH, parents born NH Orrin A. PIPER, son, age 38, a Butcher, suffering from Consumption Lizzie PIPER, dau-in-law, age 27, at Home, born MA, parents born MA/ME I am hoping to locate someone from this PIPER Family so that the photographs can be returned to the care of family.
