    3. The Deverson family appears in the same reference, the Genealogical Dictionary of ME & NH @ pg 195: Thomas, 1676, crew member of the Black Cock & several other vessels; he bought property in Portsmouth in 1692; m a Sarah Clark b ca 1663, who was raised by her aunt, Sarah Waterhouse. Sarah dau of Edward Clark & Elizabeth Fernald; Thomas d 1704. I see children: Elizabeth b 1684 m Thomas Bec; Sarah m1 Ebenezer Morse, m2 Walter Steward; Joanna who was handicapped; Mary m 25 Feb 1713-4 to Joseph Mead; John, a joiner, m 24 Sep 1719 to Deborah Cotton. In my humble opinion, this text is a basic, beginning reference source to the early families of ME and NH. It contains not only the biographical info, such as is known, and also a cross-reference to the various tax lists, militia lists, merchants accts, etc. etc. The bio ref for a family also includes the # of the list(s) on which the name appears. By Noyes, Libby & Davis, it was orig published 1928 and reprinted as recently as 1996. I do recommend it highly.
