Having followed the helpful suggestions provided to me here, the land deeds and the court records have allowed me to determine that Elijah Vickery and Hannah Gilman are indeed the parents of unnamed children: Joshua, Elijah, Israel and Meriah (named for her grandmother, Mariah (Hersey) (Gilman) Gordon. I also find that the Vickerys are a bunch of debtors who didn't like to pay up. Elijah Sr also gets arrested for drinking with some buddies one night--lively crowd. Now that I have exhausted deeds and courts and Bell, I need further suggestions of where to scare up historical fragments. Two questions: first, what cemeteries should I hunt through to try to find grave sites (which might have dates of death)? second, are there available resources for Rockingham Co and environs that would unlock a few secrets? So far, all my work has been based at the NEHGS. Anything at Dover, Exeter or Lane libraries that I am unaware of? The search area now includes: Newbury/Newburyport in MA, Hampton Falls, Exeter, Portsmouth, Wakefield in NH and Kittery and Biddeford in ME. Thanks for all the help. George
