Great maps of NH circa 1895 can be down loaded from the Univ of NH at <http://docs.unh.edu/nhtopos/NewHampshire.htm> These are topographical maps that were surveyed in the late 1800s One problem is that they were scanned in four sections so you have to splice together. Adobe 5.0 works great for this and although it'll take some time it's well worth it. You'll end up with a very nice and well detailed color map. I've checked the Manchester map that goes all the way south to Nashua and east to Windham with no sign of Knowles Island or Pond. > Subject: Knowles Pond & Knowles Island > Date: Mon, 19 Apr 1999 16:29:59 -0500 > From: Ellen Bisson <thebissons@worldnet.att.net> > To: NHROCKIN-L@rootsweb.com > > Found two refs in an Ancestry.com Gazetteer & Atlas lookup for Knowles > Pond (which apparently stretches through to Merrimack Co.) and Knowles > Island, both in Rockingham Co., NH. Would appreciate details and > directions from anyone with a better NH map than I seem to have! > > Regards, > Ellen Knowles Bisson > Warren T.
