Shannon, Another intresting place to visit is the Portsmouth Athenaeum. Their brochure states "Opened to the public in 1986, the Joseph P Copley Research Library is a center for the study of regional history, literature, and culture. Available to the researcher is the library of over 40,000 volumes, as well as the extensive manuscript and photograph collections, maps, newspapers, periodicals, and local imprints." The Research room and the Randall Room exhibition gallery are the two sections of the Athenaeum that are open to the public. Their exhibitions are very well done, and always intresting. It is at 9 Market Square, right in downtown Portsmouth.
