According to an unpublished history of the Carter family in Newton (attributed to Thomas Morrill Carter, a famous bandmaster in Boston), there was a fifth generation Nathaniel, born 1761, son of John (1715) who married Sally Hoit of Kingston. They had 8 children, the 4th of which was Sally, who may have married a Colby. You might find more information in the Colby or Hoit/Hoyt genealogies. By the way; I found no reference to Sally Hoit in any of the Kingston books. Hope this helps.
