    1. Rockingham County
    2. Hi folks: After lots of work digging up family roots in LA, MO, lately also in Germany, France and Spain, I now uncovered an ancestor whose obituary states he was born in Rockingham County. He is Jeremiah CLARK b. 1806. The obituary also states he graduated as civil engineer from Dartmouth College in 1824 (at the age of 18)? Some historic records show he was appointed surveyor of lands in Illinois by President Jackson and then later moved to Missouri to do surveying work there. Initial checks with Dartmouth College show no CLARK graduating in 1824 and no CLARK appointed by President Jackson in Illinois. So I some more wok to do on these fronts. Meanwhile all I know about his birth is that it seems to have been in 1806 and in Rockingham County. I have read some of your postings for a couple of days and have yet to see a mention of a CLARK. Is there anybody with any information about that family who participates in this group? Or anyone who can steer me in the right direction on where to look? Thank you for all information you sent my way. Happy hunting from sunny Orlando. Paul F. Van Mechelen
