Ideally you'll want to go to both, but you say you have limited time. In that case where you want to go depends largely on what you are looking for. The NH Historical Society (not Genealogical Society) is the better place to go for published books, histories and genealogies. The State Library, on the other hand, is the place to go if you want microfilm of old town records, censuses or newspapers. They also have a huge card-file every-name index to many town records on microfilm. They are right across the street from one another so if you get to one and want to go to the other it isn't a hardship.
