I know that ALL of us, myself included, have research interests outside Rockingham county. But every now and then I find it necessary to remind everyone that our outside interests have not expanded the scope of this mail list. All that is asked is, if a deceased cousin, aunt, uncle, friend, or ancestor did not live and die there, that at least SOME connection, albeit a census, a book, an article, a vital record or a family record shows that at least SOMETHING happened there. Messages about resources to assist us in this research are VERY welcome, too. Generic "how-to" questions about genealogy or history are o.k., but there are better lists for "newbies" to learn about genealogy research on the internet than this one. This message is not directed at any person in particular. It is not intended to anger or embarrass anyone. It is hoped that we all are subscribed to this list for the purpose of assisting others and ourselves to learn more about those who started in, ended in, or passed through this great coastal, colonial community. Our membership is now at 283 and creeping toward 300. Announcements like this one usually have a negative impact on growth, but better that, I think, than a flame war over the abuse of the list's topic policy. I've been there, done that, and I don't want to see it happen here. -- Dick Marston, Rockingham County, NH, Mail List (NHROCKIN) Owner.
