Cousins and Colleagues Philip Emerson, b. Feb. 11, 1738/39 in Haverhill, MA, was married to his wife Sarah on February 19, 1761 in Hampstead, NH. According to Jane James (Emersons of Haverhill, p. 78) Sarah's surname was Richards. According to Ralph Emerson (English Roots of Haverhill and Ipswich Emersons, p. 99) Sarah's surname was Roberts.
