Dear Rockingham County List--I'm trying to track down a James Lucas and his wife Charity, who resided in Corinth VT (Orange county) in the late 1700s. Since many of the people in that area, and everyone associated with this family, came from Rockingham county (Northwood, for the most part), I am assuming that James Lucas and his wife did as well. Additionally, I understand there are some Lucas placenames in the Northwood area. (Lucas pond, etc.) The History of Corinth VT 1764-1964 (1964) states that James was born May 21, 1744, his wife Charity Feb 20, 1749 (no birth places are mentioned). Their children are listed as: Sarah, b March 30, 1768 Jennea, b Nov 27, 1769 Betty, b Feb 3, 1772 Susanna, b May 1, 1774 Thomas, b May 18, 1776, d May 18, 1853, his wife Mehitable d Feb 1, 1854, their dgtr Dorothy d Dec 22, 1840 Benjamin, b 1779 Molly b April 22, 1782 Susanna, the 4th born, is my 4th g-grandmother. She married Moses Wallis, son of Wm Wallis, a "gentleman of Northwood." I have quite a bit of information about this family taken from VT Land and Vital Records for Orange county, and would be happy to share it with any interested persons. Meantime, does anyone know of Rockingham County Lucases who might be connected to James & Charity? Thanks for any help you can give, Michele Stepto
