I need some legal expertise - am going through deeds on FHC microfilm, from 1731 through 1768, all involving Robert Clark and his sales or purchases of land in Londonderry and the surrounding area. 1. If a deed including Robert's wife Letitia does not appear until 1743, does this mean they did not marry until then? Her name appears with his on several deeds after that date, but none before. 2. Some of the deeds mention a quit claim - could someone explain that phrase is simple to understand terms? I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go along in the task of transcribing these deeds. In the meantime, in the deeds I looked at yesterday (yrs. 1731 - 1743), people he bought land from or sold land to were Thos. & Mary Calwell, Wm & Mary Calwell, Thomas Richardson, John Durham, John Maclaughlin, John Anderson, John Caldwell, James Leslie, Alexander and Margaret Calwell, James Lindsay, James Gordon, James Chambers. If any of these names is familiar, please let me know. I'll have the microfilm on loan until mid-November. Thanks, Gail
