The Nicholas Hodge (son of John HOdge and Mary Harris and nephew of Nicholas Hodge brother to John Hodge) that married Seaborn Tucker (adopted dau of Richard Tucker and Margaret Reynolds and natural daughter of Nicholas Reynolds) had a grand son John Hodge born in area of Rye, me (he lived in Strawberrybank and signed several deeds for lands there). He married a Lucy Tucker from Glouscter, mass. (maine split from Mass in 1820?) This is all I know other than he was a mariner and traveled up and down the coast like all the Hodges Fishermen." I would really like to find more on your source for this info of the John Hodge grandson of Nicholas and Seaborn born in the area of Rye me (NH?) who lived in the area of Strawberrybank (present Portsmouth NH) and signed several deeds there. If this John did indeed marry Lucy Tucker then this is my ancestor John Hodge that I have been searching for. My John was born Sept. 25th 1753 (don't know where yet) and served in the Revolutionary War on at least two campaigns (1775 refortification of Falmouth, presently Portland ME, and 1779 the failed Penobscot Expedition). He married Lucy Tucker of Gloucester MASS (also a descendant to Richard Tucker) just after the Falmouth campaign in January 1776 and they settled in Minot Maine (which was Bakerstown / Poland back then). He died in Minot on July 23, 1821. If he was a fisherman early in his life then apparently he gave this up after the war to become a farmer as most of his later descnedants in Maine turned out to be. I have vis! ted his grave site in the old Hodge Cemetery in Minot Maine across for the old Hodge farm where he once lived and have pics if you want to see them. I am a direct descendant to this John and maybe, from your information, our Johns may be one and the same. I would really appreciate any sources you have on the information on John Hodge the grandson of Nicholas Hodge and Seaborn Reynolds Tucker, his parents, date of birth and where he was born would be most appreciated. If your John Hodge has the same birthdate as what I have for my ancestor then this may clear up this mystery finally of where my ancestor John Hodge of Minot actually came from. Thank you! To anyone who reads this post, please help if you can! Richard Hodge
