Dear List: For all you NH Drake descendants out there- we have now established the 37 Y-chromosome DNA signature for Robert Drake of Hampton, NH. My 7C1R submitted his sample to Family Tree and it's a 37 marker match for my Drake uncle!!! He and I both descend from Abraham Drake and his wife Theodate Robie, through their sons Abraham (him) and Samuel (me). We share a direct line from that Abraham all the way back to the time of surnames. Now we need to find some guys over in England to test to see how the profile has changed since our likely ancestor Nicholas Drake d. 1302 Great Waltham, Essex, England. By the way, if you share this Robert Drake in your family tree, you are a completely separate Drake, not related to Sir Francis Drake of most famous name or the Drakes of Devon. We are our own Drakes!! The perfect example of how different people adopted a surname around the time that surnames began, and developed completely distinct lines which share the name. If anyone wants information regarding Robert Drake of Hampton 1581-1668 I'm willing to share. Constance
